About Brian McDonald GIA
I have always had an interest in gems and jewelry, but I got into the field while Stationed in Massachusetts
in 1979.I had picked up a rock that I couldn't identify while stationed in Alaska, and met a gentleman that knew rocks. This
gentleman taught me how to cut and polish Cabochons. The second stone he gave me to cut was an opal, $100.00 per ounce in
the rough, and said you will now learn on the good stuff, and I have been cutting opals ever since. As an off shoot of cutting
gems I learned to mount the finished stones. When I retired from the Air Force in 1990 I took the hobby and learned to cast
and repair Fine Jewelry. My time in the Air Force after 1979 was spent in Panama, Australia (in the middle of the opal fields),
and then in the United States. I also enjoy collecting minerals and rough gem materials.
BJD what does it mean and why is it important?
While trying to come up with a name for my business I kept comming up with
Brian's Jewelry Design and a cross to show it is a christian business and I wanted to use only the initials, but I was advised
not to use my first name in the business name, so I tried other names but BJD won't go away. Finally one day I felt like someone
was beating me on the head with a BIG stick and He said Because Jesus Died. As soon as I got the word the headach went away.
Why is Jesus dying so important? Without Jesus death for our sins we couldn't
have a personal relationship with God. Without Jesus death he couldn't have been duried and have gone to the underworld to
take those old saint who were righteous up to heaven. Without Jesus death he couldn't have risen again in defeat of death
to show that only he has the power to provide us with eternal life. Only through his death on the cross of Calvery could Jesus
provide us with the proof of his Holyness.
John 3:16 shows God's love for us in that he gave his only son for us through
LOVE.
Romans 3:23 shows we are all sinners.
Romans 6:23 shows the cost of sin is death.
Romans 5:8 shows Jesus died for our sins.
Romans 10:9-10 shows that if you belive in your heart and confess with your mouth
you Will be Saved.
